Grand Otaku Debate or GOD is an irreverent look at the process of debate from an anime fan’s standpoint.
Contestants are chosen from the audience. As teams are formed, the host will propose a topic to the listeners. The listeners will then help select the topic.
The rules for each debate will be given at the start of the debate. The actual rules can change at the hosts choosing. In between arguments when teams are deliberating “mini games” will be played to keep the audience entertained. Audience members may get prizes tossed out to them.
After the debate is finished, voting on a winner will take place. The audience will select the winner by applause. The winners then go onto the next round. The debate reaches its’ conclusion after all the teams have been eliminated.
The final debate will be the top two teams. Special formatting for this debate will be announced and the game will be played. A grand winner will be selected by the audience.
At that time the team captain will be asked to either select the prize and go home with an invitation to return next year or to take on the mystery team for a secret extra prize.
The mystery battle’s topic will be related to the Guests of honor. If the mystery team wins this grand debate winners go home empty handed and the prize will be tossed to the crowd. Should the Mystery team be defeated, a secret extra prize will be included in the prize package that the winners will receive.
